I just remembered when Kristina was in love with Liz that one summer and I spent basically the whole summer wanting to punch Kristina.

"Heterophobia is real! Check the heterophobia tag!"

The second part of that statement is all you need to know about heterophobia: that it exists on Tumblr, but not in real life.

Because in real life, heterosexuals are praised in society and considered “normal”. Heterosexuals can go through life and not worry about whether or not they will be bullied because they are straight. They don’t worry about whether or not they will be harassed because they are straight. They don’t worry about people’s reactions when they say “I’m straight.” They don’t worry about whether or not their parents will kick them out because they are straight. They don’t worry about what people will say or do if they hug, kiss, or hold hands with their partner because they are straight. They don’t worry about whether or not they’ll lose their job because they’re straight. They don’t worry about whether or not they will be physically assaulted because they are straight. They don’t worry about whether or not they will be arrested in some countries because they are straight. And they definitely don’t worry about whether or not they will be killed simply because they are straight.

Instead, heterosexuals have to worry about how their feelings will be hurt when the log into this website and look at tag that they can easily ignore.

If you meet a lesbian and you say things like:

  • "You’re really pretty for a lesbian!"
  • "You don’t even look like a lesbian."
  • "but you look so straight."

then you should probably sit down, shut up, and read a book because you’re ignorant.
